Modern Science is based on a misperception similar to the misperception that kept the ancients in ignorance, a misperception of motion that the sun traveled around the Earth. The misperception of motion made by Modern Science is that the moon and the planets speed up and slow down in their orbits. The moon and planets only appear to speed up and slow down because the movement of the sun has not been taken into consideration when computing their speed. As the planets and the moon move with the sun, failing to take into consideration the motion of the sun produces a view of the universe based on abysmal ignorance.
The misperception that the planets speed up and slow down, stated in Kepler's laws, has given rise to five centuries of misconceptions that have left us ignorant about the most obvious facts in our existence, what makes the Earth rotate, the moon and planets orbit, and objects fall, because the misperception is at the basis of Celestial Mechanics and its hypothesis, that mass is a proportional to, and therefore a property of mass.
The volumes of The Copernican Series explain how the misperception came about, how the mind operates and thus is comfortable with the delusional conclusions dealing with the incomprehensible view of physical reality spawned by such a basic misperception, and how physical reality actually operates.
